Post What to do if you've been scammed
Fortunately I have been lucky enough not to have fallen victim to any of the 'free trial' offers yet.

But, for the benefit of those that have, what are some of the things that you can do if you do find yourself a couple hundred $ out of pocket when you thought you were getting a free gift?

Firstly, and I know this doesn't solve the situation but it might prevent it:

Don't ever trust anything that looks like a free trial. There might be exceptions to the rule, but there are too many examples of where free trial = scam.

Next, try calling the company. Some actually do refund the money, and this route is much less hasslesome than the alternatives.

Finally, you're in a situation where you need to take care of it by canceling your credit card, or, easier, telling your credit card company to prohibit any future charges.

Once you've done this, report the scamming company to every authority you can think of! BBB is a good start.

EDIT: here's a an article from NBC26.

Here is a useful answer from a blog I found:

Quote:
If you have already been the victim of an acai berry “free trial” scam there are things you can do to save yourself future costs. Chances are, the dishonest company you gave your credit card information to is either not answering your calls, or is unhelpful is cancelling your automatic shipments and billing. If you are having no luck with the company, there are still things you can do.

1. Contact your credit card company immediately and inform them of the situation and see if they have a solution. You may need to go to the extent of cancelling your current card and ordering a new card. This may be a hassle but will ultimately save you a lot of money.

2. Contact the better business bureau at www.bbb.com. It’s important to report these companies so that we can shut them down and prevent them from taking advantage of thousands more.

Hope that helps.
