 Trader Joe
I have heard that Trader Joe is carrying some acai products. Does anyone know what they are and can anyone confirm what these products are?
As I mentioned elsewhere I know that GNC are starting to carry some products. Trader Joe might just give me an extra option, though.

 Re: Trader Joe
A quick search online reveals that they might be: Organic Mango Acai BerryBut it does seem to be one of those mix things where the acai is almost added as an afterthought. Can't see the ingredients list but I can bet acai doesn't play a major role here. I'm sure it tastes great and everything, but not sure about its merits as an acai drink. Compare this to the purees that you can get online and it falls down quite miserably.

 Re: Trader Joe
I tried some, and next to the purees that you can get online (I've not seen anything of the quality of a puree in stores) it has all the consistency of thick water.
It just feels a lot like it is watered down.

 Re: Trader Joe
It feels and tastes watered down because it is!
Here's what happens to an acai puree:
Picked. Pureed. Sent to your door.
Here's what happens to the mixed acai juices like this:
Picked. Mashed up. Dried to a powder. Sent to place of storage. Stored. Wait. Wait. Picked up. Add water to reconstitute to so-called '100% acai'. Add other juices to make the drink cheaper (or to make more profit...). Send to supermarket. Sell to unsuspecting and mislead buyer.
A juice like this cannot be compared to a true puree.
