I just got some Garden Greens brand for $14.99. Never heard of the brand, but says it is 5 x 1 extract. I've seen others that say 4x1 extract, so it must be ok, right?

Garden Greens at GNC do look quite good value to start with, but dig deeper and you'll see two things.

Firstly, there is only 60 capsules per bottle; secondly there is a lot of filler in those capsules. The Garden Greens brand in particular contains a fair amount of green tea. I'm sure that green tea is good for you and everything, but do you want to be buying that instead of acai?

Oh, and I think that 5x1 extract means there is 5g of acai for every 1g of resulting capsule. In theory that means that higher numbers are better.

Unfortunately this isn't always the case. When a processing method requires filler, then the filler doesn't need to be added to the ingredients list, so 5:1 means 5g of acai and fuller to make 1g of supplement. It doesn't tell us how much there is of the actual berry in there!

By comparison freeze drying acai results in something like a 10:1 ratio -- and that when there's no filler at all.

So no, a 5:1 ratio is not so good.

Get only Pure Acai Products,..their more expensive but you get results. I get mine here right from the company. They make the only 100% Pure. And the site is secure.
